While accepting his Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET Awards Sunday night, Lionel Richie's name was misspelled on the television broadcast.

Richie wasn’t aware of the mistake when he was on stage. He was introduced by Pharrell Williams after John Legend, Ledisi and Yolanda Adams sang a medley of hits from his solo career and his time with the Commodores.

The former Police front man stated that his children will have to work for their own money and aren’t entitled to his fortune, which is estimated to be at $300 million.

“All my kids know that, and they rarely ask me for anything, which I really respect and appreciate,” he said. “Obviously if they were in trouble, I would help them, but I’ve never really had to do that. They have the work ethic that makes them want to succeed on their own merit.”

Sting went on to say, in an interview he gave to the Daily Mail, that there may not even be money left in his trust fund. “I told them there won’t be much money left because we are spending it… We have a lot of commitments. What comes in, we spend, and there isn’t much left.”
